Case Study: Ben Walting NVQ level 2 Motor Vehicle Body Repair " It was a culture shock and I had to work hard to achieve success but as a student I felt more relaxed and I looked forward to coming every week. After completing the 1st year and gaining more expertise, I was given jobs that required additional skills and I started to feel more respected by my colleagues. " I feel that I have learnt a lot - I'm gaining experience and insight into what is required and skills that I could use in another job." We offer a wide range of NVQs in the following vocational areas: AAT Payroll Administration, Barbering, Brickwork, Beauty Therapy, Business Administration, Business Improvement Techniques, Wood Occupations, Carry & Deliver Goods, Catering, Contact Centre Operations, Children's Care Learning & Development, Cleaning & Support Services, Customer Service, Dental Nursing, Driving Goods Vehicles, Electrical Installation, Engineering, Exercise & Fitness, Fork Lift Truck, Front Office, Hairdressing, Health, Health & Social Care, Hospitality Supervision, ITQ, Information Communication Technology, Logistics, Management, Motor Vehicle, Welding, Performing Engineering Operations, Occupational Health & Safety, Play Work, Retail, Supporting Teaching & Learning, Team Leading, Traffic Office and Warehousing & Storage Phone 01924 789111 for more information. Look out for this coloured flag in the course listings to find Vocational Courses aimed at Adults Case Study: Harriet Westmoreland Level 2 and 3 in Hairdressing " I looked at a few colleges but Wakefield was the only place I liked. I went to open events and the Wakefield College tutors were the only ones who approached me to talk about the course. I found them to be really enthusiastic. " The atmosphere at Wakefield College is very friendly. I learnt a lot from my course and the teaching was fun and varied. " It was great having the opportunity to work in a real working environment - the salon isn't just a teaching facility, the public are invited in and they get great priced treatments. This really helped me learn how to deal with the clients. I had the opportunity to build a good rapport with them and I learnt how to be patient - which I think really prepares you for working in the ' real world!' " I would recommend this course to anyone wanting to get into the hairdressing profession. I'm currently working at AVEDA in Harvey Nicholls - but I would love to come back to Wakefield College one day as a tutor in Hairdressing." Case Study: Gaynor Rogers Assessor's Award " I enrolled at Wakefield College in the early 1990s to study on the D32 and D33 - now the Assessor's Award, which started my career in Learning and Development. I felt that the course at Wakefield just had the edge over other providers and I couldn't ignore the great reputation of the College. " I then went on to achieve the Certificate in Personnel Practice qualification and I am now back in the classroom in my second year on the Professional Certificate in Education and Training. I think it is absolutely necessary to upgrade your skills, especially if you are in a training role like me. " I have really positive experiences of my time at Wakefield College. The tutors and staff are very encouraging and supportive and the fact that the courses are flexible helps as I find it hard balancing family life with working and learning! Having said all of that, I really enjoy it - I feel like I'm really achieving something. " I am definitely a different person and in a different place than when I started. I'd definitely recommend someone to continue learning - it keeps you going and your mind active - Just do it!" Vocational Courses for Adults
