www. northumbria. ac. uk11 City Campus East boasts three impressive 200-, 250-, and 400- seat lecture theatres with state- of- the- art audio visual equipment, flexible teaching, learning and meeting spaces alongside library facilities, workshops and studio and exhibition spaces. There is also a spacious 250- seat cafeteria on the ground floor of the Business School. The Campus is linked to the city centre by an impressive footbridge which spans 95 metres across the Central Motorway and Metro railway line. The construction of City Campus East reflected Northumbria University's commitment to sustainable design and recycling featured heavily in the development. Following the completion of City Campus East a £ 50 million redevelopment of the existing City Campus West is underway. In the past few years vast areas of the University have already benefited from significant improvements and there are several large scale projects planned for the future. The University's campus at Coach Lane is also benefiting from an ongoing upgrade of student- facing areas. By 2010 the University's Estate will have been enhanced and developed to benefit all students, Schools and Services and will satisfy the University's needs for the next 20 years. One of the major projects in City Campus West is the building of a state- of- the- art Sports Facility, which includes a 25m ' Swimming Tank', scheduled to be completed by June 2010. This £ 26 million development will provide both the School of Psychology & Sports Sciences and Team Northumbria with top- class training and research facilities, alongside leisure facilities for students, staff and the community.
