www. northumbria. ac. uk23 James Charlton PhD student profile " Having completed my degree in Architectural Technology at Northumbria University I was thrilled when the opportunity arose to build on my current knowledge and apply my skills to a PhD research project. It is about the holistic design of public spaces using innovative electronic modelling. The University has excellent facilities and the staff are very supportive. The postgraduate student community at Northumbria is great. I have not only been able to meet different people within my own School, but also the monthly postgraduate society has allowed me to socialise with international students from all parts of the University, all researching a variety number of topics and all with diverse interests." profile Bobo Mingsum Ng PhD student " Northumbria University was my first choice when I decided to study for a PhD. I was an undergraduate student here and benefited from the outstanding teaching quality on my course, as well as the amazing student experience. My PhD research is in renewable energy development, particularly geothermal energy, and I will be presenting the preliminary results at a national conference this year. I also attend internal conferences and postgraduate student activities within the School which allow us to share our knowledge with each other and academic staff. My current principal supervisor is an expert in the field and I have had enormous support from my supervision team during the research." 24School of Computing, Engineering and Information Sciences School of Computing, Engineering and Information Sciences The School has over 50 researchers and over 80 PhD students bringing together expertise in engineering, mathematics, physical sciences, and computer and information science, enabling it to address a variety of topics and disciplines, in particular those that require an interdisciplinary approach.
