I was motivated to pursue a higher level academic qualification which would provide me with an edge in my career so I chose Newcastle Business School's Doctorate of Business Administration ( DBA) programme. The DBA programme delivers research and enquiry skills at the highest level with a focus on professional practice. This fitted with my objective to develop and enhance my knowledge and research skills in understanding and evaluating practical problems. I was able to participate in various national as well as international conferences. My supervisors provided excellent guidance and support throughout my doctoral journey, and finally, I am confident that the DBA has helped me to enhance my research skills and has provided the edge in my academic career." Tatiana Alekseeva PhD student profile " I decided to do my PhD in Newcastle Business School after obtaining a Masters in Business with Tourism and Hospitality from Newcastle Business School in 2006. While on the Masters course, I was introduced to the wonderful world of airlines and felt a desire to learn more about it and to make my contribution to knowledge in the field. This was how I became a part of a Newcastle Business School PhD Research community. I was also attracted by the sophisticated, modern environment of the new Business School building, which enables effective learning; intensive, well- structured and highly professional training, which develops and enhances our academic and research skills. Above all, I value the supportive and friendly atmosphere within the community, where at monthly informal meetings we discuss the research process, share our experiences, opinions and concerns, and help each other with advice. Regular social events also enable us to get to know each other better as people outside the research suite. PhD research may be a lonely process, but definitely not in Newcastle Business School!" |
